The Fork & Wheel is looking for an experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager who is passionate about people, service, and standards.
Approximately 80% of this role is focused on strengthening the team — training, service standards, culture, and guest experience. The remaining time is dedicated to the day to day management and operational responsibilities of the restaurant.
This role is ideal for a senior hospitality professional who enjoys being on the floor, coaching teams, holding standards, and delivering outstanding guest experiences, while also being comfortable with management responsibility.
What you will be doing:
- Leading by example on the floor every day and setting the standard for service
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to deliver exceptional hospitality
- Ensuring service, presentation, and operational standards are consistently met
- Supporting the management team during busy services and peak periods
- Being customer-obsessed and guest-focused at all times
- Opening and closing the business when required
- Managing cash control, end-of-day procedures, and basic financial controls
- Supporting stock control, compliance, and health & safety standards
- Acting as Manager on Duty on rostered shifts
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior restaurant role, with hands-on leadership responsibility
- Strong service background in quality, service-led hospitality environments
- Experience with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and compliance
- Mature, professional, and calm under pressure
- A natural leader who builds trust, develops people, and raises standards
- Friendly and approachable, while remaining firm and consistent on quality
